1. Zinus 14 Inch SmartBase Mattress Foundation – Editor’s Choice

Zinus 14 Inch SmartBase Mattress Foundation

  • 14 inches high
  • Steel frame construction
  • No tools required
  • 4,000 lbs weight limit.

This bed frame is very easy to set up. This makes it great for people that don’t have much of a DIY mindset and just want to get the job done. People often have a tough time setting up their bed frames. This is because these bed frames often require tools to set up.

When you are finished setting this product up, you will notice that there is a lot of space underneath the bed frame. You can use this as a storage space which is very convenient. The space is particularly useful for storing things like quilts, pillows and other items people often use in the bedroom.

Another thing you will like is that this bed frame is very quiet, its design has made it possible for you to toss and turn while you lie down on it and not have to hear any unpleasant squeaking noises. The best thing about this product is that it’s not overly expensive. In fact, people with a modest to moderate budget will easily be able to afford it, which makes this product a solid purchase overall.

While this bed frame has a lot of positive qualities, no product can be perfect. This product has a flaw as well, which is that your mattress won’t stay stable on the frame. This is because the frame lacks stabilizing edges so your mattress might slip if you toss and turn. This can be annoying because the mattress might start sticking off the edges of your bed frame which doesn’t look nice.

Pros

  • Easy Assembly
  • Storage Space
  • Minimal Noise
  • Price.

Cons

  • Lack of Mattress Stability.

2. Zinus 14 Inch Elite SmartBase Mattress Foundation – Top Runner up

Zinus 14 Inch Elite SmartBase Mattress Foundation

  • Steel frame
  • Foldable
  • Easy assembly
  • Facilitates a variety of heights/weights
  • All in one solution

This bed frame comes with a steel frame, which means it is very rugged and sturdy. When you lie down on it you will notice that it stays flat under you. A lot of bed frames dip at the center of your weight which can cause damage over time. This bed frame is clearly of a higher quality. This bed frame is also perfect for tall folk that want some extra space so their feet don’t stick out of the bed frame.

A good bed frame can be taken with you anywhere you go, and this is a good frame. You can fold it up and carry it which makes it great for people that move to new houses regularly. Chronic back pain is a common complaint among heavy people. A good bed frame such as this one can help your back feel better because it is a strong, flat surface for you to lie down on. Buying this bed frame is good for your back.

While this product comes with support rails that make it very sturdy and durable, but these support rails reduce how much storage space you have underneath the frame. Additionally, when you spend on a product you should ideally get the full package. Unfortunately, this product requires you to buy the headboard and other such parts separately. This unnecessarily drives up the price.

Pros

  • Sturdy
  • Facilitates Tall People
  • Foldable
  • Good for your back.

Cons

  • Requires extra parts
  • Support Rails Reduce Storage Space.

3. Olee Sleep 14 Inch T-3000 Heavy Duty Steel

Olee Sleep 14 Inch T-3000

  • Highly sturdy design
  • Extended warranty
  • Storage space
  • Easy setup

This bed frame has been designed to keep your mattress in place. This means that it won’t slip while you sleep on it which can help you rest easy at night. Additionally, there won’t be any squeaks or other strange noises while you use this bed frame. Light sleepers would love how quiet this product is.

Bed frames that are designed for heavy people usually think about durability and nothing else. A lot of bed frames don’t take comfort into consideration as much as they should. This bed frame stays a cut above the rest because it focuses so much on comfort and helps heavy people finally get a restful sleep.

Comfort and stability aside, this mattress does not have any mind-blowing features. This makes the higher than average price point confusing and off-putting. Also, a bed frame needs to be portable to be perfect. This bed frame is not as portable as a lot of other products on the market. This can cause a lot of conveniences, especially if you have to travel or move to a new home.

Pros

  • Stabilizes Mattress
  • Soundless Use
  • Superior Comfort.

Cons

  • Price
  • Lacks Portability.

4. STRUCTURES by Malouf Heavy Duty Adjustable Metal Bed Frame

STRUCTURES by Malouf Heavy Duty Adjustable Metal Bed Frame

  • Adjustable size
  • Gliders provide easy movement
  • Support bar
  • Headboard included.

This frame has everything that you would need to have a comfortable sleep. The bed frame does not require any extra parts or special pieces, the price you pay when you buy this product is the last sum of money you will need to pay in order to enjoy using this solid bed frame.

A lot of bed frames on the market are portable, but this product is special because it has wheels. These wheels, or gliders as some call them, can be used to move the bed frame around without folding it up. This is a very useful feature of this product that gives it a lot of value for its price.

This bed frame also comes with a matte finish that looks great. Not only that, the finish is long-lasting as well so it won’t chip or peel off anytime soon. This is a great product that you can get for an affordable price, perfect for the budget-conscious shopper.

All of that being said, this bed frame is not as durable as some of the other products on the market. If you approach this bed frame’s upper weight limit it might get bent out of shape. The wheels are great for portability but also make this product very slippery which can ruin a good night’s sleep.

Pros

  • All Purpose Frame
  • Highly Portable
  • Long Lasting Finish
  • Affordable.

Cons

  • Lack of Durability
  • Not Stable.

5. Classic Brands Hercules Heavy-Duty 14-Inch Platform Metal Bed Frame

Classic Brands Hercules Heavy-Duty 14-Inch Platform Metal Bed Frame

  • Supports variety of mattresses
  • Capped legs
  • No tools assembly
  • Solid construction.

This bed frame manages to take its features a step further by being so versatile. You can use this bed frame as a divan or a sofa or a lot of other kinds of furniture. This is great for people that want a versatile piece of decoration for their home.

This bed frame comes with capped legs which means you can slide it around without scratching up your floors. Redecorating happens often, and the capped legs mean that you don’t have to fold the bed frame every time you need to move it. A lot of people that buy bed frames are busy executives, single mothers or other similar people that don’t have a lot of time. This bed frame is perfect for all of these people.

A common complaint from people that use this bed frame is that it makes too much noise while you use it. This can be a particular problem for people that get awoken by small noises or move around a lot while they sleep. You will find the manufacturer lacking in the customer service department. CSRs are often rude and don’t give you enough time for you to voice your query.

Pros

  • Versatile
  • Good for Floors
  • Easy to Setup.

Cons

  • Noisy
  • Poor Customer Service.

6. Best Price Mattress Twin Bed Frame

Simple Houseware

  • Support slats instead of bars
  • Multiple points of contact
  • Pure steel construction.

This product approaches durability in a very smart way. The support slats have a larger surface area, so weight is spread more evenly. This helps make the bed frame highly durable while using less metal than is generally used.

Most bed frames have support bars to improve durability. While effective, the bars can often make the bed frame uncomfortable. This product doesn’t do that, instead, it uses slats that are flat and can’t poke you through your mattress. Because less metal has been used, the bed frame feels lighter. This helps make it very portable, so much so that you don’t have to select a specific place for it instead of moving it to the most convenient location every night.

While the slats provide a lot of benefits, they sometimes dig into your mattress sideways. This can sometimes damage your mattress. They also leave impressions in your mattress that might make it less comfortable to lie down on. Additionally, there are a lot of bed frames out there that are available for similar or lower prices and provide a lot more benefits. This bed frame simply fails to justify its asking price.

Pros

  • Excellent Comfort Levels
  • Smart Durability
  • Portability.

Cons

  • Slats Damage Mattresses
  • Expensive.

7. Kings Brand Furniture 7-Leg Adjustable Metal Bed Frame

Kings Brand Furniture 7-Leg Adjustable Metal Bed Frame

  • Wheels included
  • Steel construction
  • Low price point
  • Easy setup.

If you want a top-notch bed frame but don’t have the budget for an expensive model, you should definitely check this product out. It gives a lot of value for something that can be purchased at such a low price, and it proves that you don’t have to spend enormous amounts of money to be able to buy a solid product.

This product is very portable for two reasons. Firstly, it is very lightweight which means you can carry it to wherever you need to put it. Secondly, the bed frame has wheels you won’t have to carry it at all. Instead, you can just roll it around, potentially even turning it into a fun game for kids!

An affordable product is going to have problems. After all, the low price has to be justified. This bed frame isn’t as durable as a lot of other models on the market so you should handle it with care. While this bed frame is definitely serviceable, it won’t give you a lot of comfort. The right mattress can help but the frame itself is not going to contribute to comfort which is an annoying negative aspect of this product.

Pros

  • Highly Affordable
  • Lightweight and Portable.

Cons

  • Lack of Durability
  • Lacks Comfort.

Instructions for the Buyers

Heavy people need to buy the right kind of bed frame. Buying the wrong frame can result in a lot of problems. For example, a bed frame not designed for heavy people could end up breaking which would make it a big waste of money.

Money is not the only thing on the line. Heavy people can end up suffering from health problems as well if their bed frame is not properly designed. Hence, finding a bed frame perfectly designed for heavy people is something that will be good for your wallet as well as your overall health.

This can be a bit of a difficult task, though. Most bed frames are not designed to withstand heavyweights. Finding the right one can take a lot of time and energy. This is why we have compiled a list of features and qualities you should be looking for in your bed frame.

This list also has other things that you should consider before you make a purchase. Going through the list beforehand can really help you to get the best value for money when you eventually do find a bed frame that’s right for you.

What to Consider Before Buying a Bed Frame?

Size

These are the sizes that you can look into, bearing in mind that some countries might have their own unique sizing parameters:

  • Single – 3×6’
  • Double – 4×6’
  • King – 5×6.5’
  • Continental – 5.5×6.5’
  • Super King – 6×6.5’

As you can clearly see, height does not change much based on the size of the bed frame in question. That being said, if you are a heavy person then you probably shouldn’t get a single sized bed frame. 3 feet is a fair amount of space, but you might find yourself struggling to get comfortable because it might be too narrow. If you want a good bed frame for a heavy person, getting a broader frame like a double might be a better idea.

Size actually doesn’t how well a bed frame performs for heavy people as much as other factors. However, getting a bed that is broad enough to support you is definitely something you should look into. A general rule for height is that your bed needs to extend about half a foot beyond your feet. This means that if you are taller than six feet, you might have to look for special bed frames that are longer than the industrial average.

Material

Bed frames are constructed of a lot of different materials. The most common materials are metal and wood. There are benefits to both kinds of materials. Wood can give the room a more homely, old school aesthetic. It is great for people that really want their interior decoration to get to another level. These are the types of wood that you can look into along with their benefits:

Oak: This is a very sturdy wood but it is also quite heavy.

Ash: This type of wood is a little more flexible than others so ash bed frames are often more aesthetically pleasing.

Mahogany: This is the gold standard of woods. Mahogany is premium wood because of its naturally dark and beautiful color as well as how durable it is.

It should be noted that all of the above are hardwoods. Softwood bed frames are not suitable for people at heavier weights.

The great thing about metal is that it is generally hollow, so the finished frame is going to be lighter than wood. Metal frames are also longer lasting because they are more resistant to the elements, along with giving your room a more modern feel.

A common misconception is that a metal frame is better for heavy set people. This misconception comes from the fact that metal is generally sturdier and stronger than wood. This would obviously mean that heavier people will be more comfortable on a metal frame. However, a solid metal frame would be far too heavy to be practical. This is why most metal frames are made of hollow rods.

Because these metal rods are hollow, they end up being less sturdy than wood. A heavy person might end up bending the metal overtime, whereas solid wood frames might be better at handling heavier weights. Hence, you should try to go for a wooden frame. It would be better in the long run in terms of durability, and would also make your room look nicer overall.

An additional bed frame material that you can look into is leather. This is a much classier material in terms of looks, although it lacks the benefits that wood and metal bed frames provide for heavy people.

Frame Height

This is one of those things that most people just don’t think about. After all, who really cares how high your frame is off the ground? This is actually the wrong way to think. Bed frame height affects a lot of different things.

One of the first ways in which it affects you is by increasing or reducing the amount of space you have in your room. If you buy a bed frame that rests higher up above the ground, you end up with a lot of space underneath it that you can use for storage.

This is particularly useful if you want to store things like quilts, sheets and the like, things that you might suddenly need in the bedroom. It is also great for people living in smaller spaces that don’t have a lot of extra storage room.

Frame height also affects how your bed frame looks. A lower bed frame height looks more modern and sophisticated than a higher bed frame. However lower bed frames are less practical because you lose out on a lot of storage space, so it really is a question of what type of experience you want at the end of the day.

Ease of Assembly

A bed frame is supposed to be portable. This means that the setup process is supposed to be relatively easy. There are a few factors that affect how easy a bed frame is to assemble. One thing you should take note of is how many parts the bed frame has. The more parts it has, the more effort it will take to assemble.

A good bed frame is generally going to have a minimal number of parts that won’t require any expert help in order to assemble. However, too few parts will mean that the bed frame will be difficult to assemble as well. Try to find a middle ground between portability and ease of construction.

  2. Ok. I’m 70 years old. 4’8″ tall and walk with canes. No I don’t really want to use stairs to get in or out of bed (too dangerous). Am looking for a twin bed frame with legs that can be adjusted very low to the floor. I don’t want to have to jump into the bed or slide out of it. Don’t care about storage underneath the bed. Just want to be able to get in and out of bed with minimal effort. Can’t seem to find anything to fit my need. Got any suggestions? Thanks
